Nancy Coury - Author and experienced educator

A Lifetime of Helping Little Voices

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Nancy Coury brought joy, patience, and imagination to her classroom. Her teaching journey spans more than 25 years: 3 years at St. James, 23 years at St. Raphael (including 2 years as substitute), and 4 years tutoring in public schools. A beloved educator, she dedicated her life to helping children discover the power of language—one sound, one smile, one story at a time.

Nancy believed that reading isn't just about learning words; it's about hearing them, feeling them, and finding your own voice in the world. Her lifelong love of phonics and storytelling inspired Jack's Window, the first in a series of gentle tales designed to help young readers master tricky sounds through rhythm, rhyme, and play.

Each story is lovingly modeled after her grandchildren—their curiosity, laughter, and big hearts shining through every page.

Nancy's dream was simple yet profound: to make learning joyful for every child, especially those who struggle to be understood. Through her books, that dream lives on—opening windows of imagination, kindness, and confidence for children everywhere.

Family Reflections

"My mom is one of the most inspiring people I know. She brought warmth, patience, and creativity into her classroom every single day. Her love for learning was contagious, and she made every student feel seen and supported.

What makes her even more amazing is that she didn't stop at teaching—she turned her passion into a story that helps children feel understood. Jack's Window captures her heart and the hope she's shared with every child she's ever taught."
— Lisa Coury, Daughter

"Jack looks out his window.

He sees a cat looking at a man.

The cat takes a nap. The cat is named Mac.

Outside the kids are playing baseball. Wham goes the bat."

Scholarship Partnership: Opening Doors for Every Child

Education shaped our mother's world—and she believed no child's opportunity should depend on finances. Through Jack's Window, we're honored to partner with the St. Raphael Scholarship Fund to help children access the kind of education she cherished.

The Scholarship Fund works alongside Ohio's EdChoice program, which provides tuition support to eligible students. Because EdChoice awards are applied directly to St. Raphael and cannot exceed the school's tuition, our Fund helps fill unmet gaps—so more families can benefit.

Our goal is to provide additional funding to bridge gaps, support students not fully covered, and extend opportunity when help is needed most. Every time Jack's Window is purchased, a portion of net proceeds will be directed to the Scholarship Fund—helping more children benefit, regardless of their financial background.

Together, we can carry forward our mother's dream: that every child deserves a chance to learn, grow, and find their voice.

Building a Brighter Future, Together

A portion of every book sale goes directly to the St. Raphael Scholarship Fund, bridging gaps in EdChoice coverage and helping more children access quality education—regardless of their family's financial background.

Supporting the St. Raphael Scholarship Fund

Every purchase helps us provide additional funding to support students not fully covered by EdChoice, extending educational opportunity when help is needed most.
