Meet Nancy Coury

Author · Educator · Grandmother

Nancy Coury spent over 30 years teaching phonics and early literacy in Catholic school classrooms in the Bay Village, Ohio area. She has seen firsthand how the right story, told with the right rhythm, can unlock a child's relationship with reading.

When her first grandchild Jack came along, Nancy knew it was time to put 30 years of classroom wisdom into a book — one that would teach, delight, and give back to the kind of community she devoted her career to.

From the Classroom to the Page

Nancy taught phonics the old-fashioned way — with patience, repetition, and genuine delight in children's progress. Her approach was grounded in the belief that early literacy is not a set of drills, but a door that opens into a child's lifelong relationship with language and story.

The Nani's Window series grew out of that philosophy. Each book is built around the same tools Nancy used in her classrooms: simple, memorable word families; rhythm that children can feel in their mouths; and observation of the ordinary world as a gateway to wonder.

Jack's Window is Book 1. Jack, Nancy's first grandchild, looks out his window and notices everything — and in noticing, begins to name. The book is designed so that a child who has never cracked a letter-sound code can begin to feel it clicking into place before the last page.

Future books in the series will follow Brynn, Liam, Declan, Daris, and Jojo — each as distinct as the real grandchild they're named for.
